Summer is finally on its way!!
This is the time of year to really get the best out of your garden; there are so many beautiful and colourful spring bedding plants to choose from, as well as some lovely plants that will still look great after the summer months have passed by such as fuchsias and penstemons.
Plant out spring bedding after the risk of a late frost diminishes, but before the real summer heat kicks in.
Choose plants that are green and bushy with plenty of buds, and give them all a good soaking before you plant them.
Is a good time to cut and shape your evergreen hedges, but do be sure to check that there are no birds nesting before you do so.
This is now the time to keep up a regular mowing routine as the lawn is actively growing and to look its best, will also require feeding, moss killing and weeding.
During the summer months it is a good idea to mow your lawn at least once a fortnight, as long as it is dry, and keep it in shape using an edging tool, and trim the edges after mowing.
Plants will need to be watered regularly during warmer weather, and it is a good idea to do this on an evening when the sun is no longer shining on the plants, as this will reduce the risk of burning the leaves.
Recycle water where you can by collecting rain water or use an irrigation system.
Have a great summer and enjoy your gardens!
